A number of events were held in St. Petersburg as part of the business mission of the Emirate of Sharjah to Russia organized by INCONA

On June 1 and 2, 2016, a number of events were held in St. Petersburg, the main organizer of which was the INCONA company. Partners in organizing the events were: the Government of St. Petersburg, the Moscow Chamber of Commerce, the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and the St. Petersburg Branch of Delovaya Rossiya.

All the events took place within the framework of the business mission of representatives of government departments and businesses of the UAE (Emirate of Sharjah) to Russia (May 29 – June 3, 2016), also organized by INCONA. From the Emirati side, 13 people took part in the business mission – representatives of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce, state administrations, investment structures, private and public companies of various industry specialization.

The business program of the Sharjah delegation in St. Petersburg began on June 1, 2016 with the conference «The Emirate of Sharjah: opportunities for investment and trade and economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and the UAE». Representatives of the Government of St. Petersburg, Russian investment funds, state-owned companies and private businesses took part in the conference from the Russian side. In total, over 90 people took part in the event.

The speakers of the conference from the Russian side were: Alexey Busev, General Director of INCONA (who also holds the position of Chairman of the Moscow CCI Commission for Cooperation with the UAE), Vladimir Katenev, President of the St. Petersburg CCI, and Ekaterina Lebedeva, Deputy President of the St. Petersburg CCI. The Emirati delegation was represented by: Chairman of the Sharjah State Administration for Trade and Tourism Development Khalid Al Midfa, Director of Investment Development of the Sharjah State Administration for Investment and Development (SHUROOQ) Juma Mohammed Al Masharah and Vice President of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry Walid Bahatir.

On June 2, 2016, the delegation of the Emirate of Sharjah met in Smolny with the heads of the relevant committees of the Administration of St. Petersburg. On the part of St. Petersburg, the meeting was attended by: Acting Chairman of the Committee on External Relations of St. Petersburg Igor Lonsky, Chairman of the Committee on Culture of St. Petersburg Konstantin Sukhenko, Acting Chairman of the Committee for the Development of Entrepreneurship and Consumer Market of St. Petersburg Lidiya Gromova, Acting Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg Rimma Sachunova and Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Industrial Policy and Innovation of St. Petersburg Alexey Vasiliev. The parties discussed topical issues of Russian-Emirati business cooperation related to trade, economic and investment activities, as well as cooperation in the field of culture and tourism.

Also on June 2, 2016, at the Import Substitution and Localization Center of St. Petersburg, the Sharjah delegation met with the heads of the St. Petersburg branch of Delovaya Rossiya, as well as business representatives of St. Petersburg, Krasnodar Krai and the Udmurt Republic. The meeting participants discussed topical issues related to mutual support for the export-oriented business of the UAE (primarily the Emirate of Sharjah) and Russia, the development of trade and economic cooperation, as well as the intensification of cooperation in the investment and tourism spheres.
